Saturn's Regret

One of my best projects as of yet, with this being my first year using paint. While oil painting has its place, my attention towards acrylic was heightened with its far faster drying and overall impact on the canvas.

The subject of Saturn eating his son is a profound and horrific painting by Goya, and thus I wished to capture such a thing in scenes that depict what leads up to it. With my work being done early, I was recommended to add a follow-up, and thus I turned to Ivan the Terrible and his son, a painting that once again shows fatherhood and tragedy, one in which I painted Saturn over. Facing the repercussions of his monstrous transformation, his unbridled hunger, now results in the tender holding of his son's corpse.
